A Little About Acorn & Quill

Hello! I’m Nikki.

After more than a decade teaching English abroad in Southeast Asia and beyond, I created Acorn & Quill—a small, independent educational brand making thoughtful, structured workbooks for young learners building their reading and writing.

Acorn & Quill grew from something I wanted in my own classroom: one well-designed resource where each lesson builds naturally on the last, without having to piece together stacks of disconnected books and worksheets.

Teachers, tutors, and learning centres already have enough to prepare. I wanted to create workbooks that are easy to teach from, purposeful from beginning to end, and engaging enough for children to enjoy using.

Inside, learners are given repeated opportunities to practise new skills, revisit what they have already learned, read engaging stories, and gradually develop their confidence in reading, spelling, comprehension, and writing.

The name reflects that journey. The acorn represents the learner—small, curious, and growing. The quill represents the skills they grow into: expressing their ideas, communicating clearly, and eventually writing with confidence.

Every Acorn & Quill workbook is created with the classroom in mind: clear progression, meaningful practice, and resources educators can rely on lesson after lesson.

Our Approach

Where Learning Takes Root

Each Acorn & Quill workbook builds gently on what came before, giving learners time to practice, revisit, and grow in confidence.

Learn

Introduce the sound or spelling pattern clearly.

Practice

Plenty of repetition with the new pattern.

Apply

Use it in reading, writing, and sentences.

Grow

Revisit earlier skills and build confidence before moving forward.

Why Choose These Workbooks

Thoughtful practice,
page by page.

01

Skills that build naturally

Each lesson builds on what came before, revisiting familiar sounds and spelling patterns while gradually introducing new ones.

02

Phonics put into practice

Learners use each target sound across spelling, reading, writing, sentence building, and comprehension — all within the same lesson.

03

A familiar lesson rhythm

Activities vary, but the lesson structure stays consistent. Learners know what to expect, making it easier to focus on the skill they are practicing.

04

Purposeful from page to page

Clear layouts, color-coded target sounds, and thoughtfully grouped activities keep each page calm, focused, and useful.

05

Made for guided learning

Introduce the sound or spelling pattern, then use the workbook for guided and independent practice. Teacher notes and an answer key make it easy to support each lesson.
